One of the latest developments in lighting is the LED (Light Emitting Diode).
Traditional bulbs produce light by heating-up a filament surrounded by a gas, but only in the best cases 20% of the energy is transformed into light, the rest goes to waste as heat.
LED's do not have a filament to heat-up, and thus there is almost no loss of energy, making LED's up to 5 times more efficient than traditional bulbs.
Another advantage of LED's is that they do not burn out, a standard high-output LED will last for over 100.000 hours of use!
LED's are encased in a high strenght optical grade epoxy, so there is no glass or filament to break, making LED's perfect for rugged environments, as they are shockproof.
Until recently, LED's were not producing enough light to be used in a flashlight, but Inova is one of the companies that changed this.
Not only are most models producing enough light to be compared to standard C- and D- cell flashlights, the manufacturing quality is also very high, as they are completely machined from aircraft-grade aluminium and fitted with the finest optics and switches.
