Polarion HID

HID stands for High Intensity Discharge, a lighting technology that replaces the filamented light bulb inside the reflector with a quartz capsule filled with gas and a small quantity of metallic elements.
The light is emitted from an arc discharge between two closely spaced electrodes hermetically sealed inside a small quartz glass tubular envelope capsule.
To operate, it requires a ballast, which supplies the proper voltage and controls the current.
The amount of light produced is much greater than with a standard halogen bulb while consuming less power, and more closely approximating the color temperature of natural daylight.

To put things in the right perspective and to provide you with useful information, the overall light-output of the Polarion HID-lights is comparable to that of a middleclass car.
