Benchmade has equipped this version of the 555 Mini-Griptilian with an olive-green Valox (FRN) handle. The limited dimensions make this knife to be very suitable for use by persons with smaller hands. The shape of the blade of this Mini-Griptilian is a modified sheep foot. The blade is black coated.  
  


This knife is pleasantly small and additionally also executed with the reliability you may expect of Benchmade. Steel liners, the well-known axis-lock and a blade made of 154CM-steel make this knife to be perfect for daily use. This pocket knife is extremely suitable for both left and right-handed persons.

De zoektocht naar een nieuw EDC zakmes leidde me naar de Benchmade Mini-Griptilian 555BKHGOD.

Het G10 handvat ligt aangenaam in de hand en biedt zeer goede grip. 
De pocket clip valt de verstellen zodat je het mes links of rechts kan dragen. De mogelijkheid om tussen ‘tip up’ of ‘tip down’ te kiezen is er niet, maar dit stoort me niet doordat Benchmade voor ‘tip up’ koos. 
Verder is het Axis Lock mechanisme dat het lemmet blokkeert een zeer stevig en gebruiksvriendelijk systeem dat typerend is aan een Benchmade. 

Het lemmet zelf is vervaardigd uit 154cm staal, een ‘high end’ staaltype dat gekend is voor zijn sterkte en zeer gemakkelijk te slijpen valt. 
Verder heeft het lemmet een ronde opening waardoor je het gemakkelijk met 1 hand kan openen. Dit soort ‘Spiderholes’ zijn natuurlijk wereldbekend van de Spyderco zakmessen, maar ook Benchmade weet er gebruik van te maken. 
Benchmade beschrijft het lemmet als een ‘sheepfoot’ of ‘schapenvoet’ door de vormgeving van het lemmet. Deze unieke vorm zorgt ervoor dat het mes extra veilig tijdens bijvoorbeeld het oversnijden van een veiligheidsgordel of kleding tijdens een noodsituatie. 
De zwarte coating oogt geweldig in combinatie met het handvat en is een mooi detail. 

Kortom, de Benchmade Mini-Griptilian 555BKHGOD heeft alles wat je van een goed EDC zakmes verwacht. 


Sehr gut verarbeitet. Alles in Ordnung nur das zerlegen ist nicht so einfach .

Het mes heb ik nu een tijdje in bezit en ben er erg tevreden mee. 

Het axis lock werkt perfect, het openen en sluiten van het mes gaat supersnel. Ook het openen met de duim gaat erg soepel door het gat netals bij spyderco messen.

De zwarte coating van het blad is goed slijtvast. Ik heb diverse spullen gesneden zoals; karton en touw. Tot dusver geen slijtage op het blad.

Het mes ligt goed in de hand, gezien het formaat. Mijn pink past er net niet helemaal op omdat ik wat wat grotere handen heb. Dit vind ik niet erg omdat ik was op zoek naar een klein EDC mes en daar is deze mini griptilian perfect voor.

Schitterend mes. Ik heb het aangeschaft voor de Axis-lock en omdat ik een kleiner EDC mes wil voor op kantoor. Het is moeilijk weg te leggen, zo leuk is het om ermee te spelen. Enige minpunt is dat het handvat net te klein is voor mijn handen, waardoor ik met mijn pink niet zo goed raad weet. Ik overweeg om zijn grotere broer aan te schaffen, maar dan met het andere soort blad.
