With the HC50, Nitecore has made a very complete head lamp that is ideal for hikers, climbers, campers and other outdoor enthusiasts. The solid aluminum body is strong enough for the heavy use that is associated with these activities. The modern XM-L2 (T6) LED has a maximum light output of 565 lumen. The lamp is rotatable in the rubber holder. Combined with the very large light angle of 100 degrees, you always have a good overview over the place for which you need it. With 5 different output modes, this is a very good and versatile head lamp.  
   


Next to the strong white LED, two small red LED's are mounted. These can burn for a very long time in 2 modes: continuous or flashing.   
  


A small LED is hidden inside the switch. Every time when switching on the white LED, you can see by this LED if the battery voltage is above or below the 50% charge level. Red is lower, green is higher. When installing new batteries, the precise voltage will be shown by flashing (4.2 V is 4 x flash, pause, 2 x flash).  
   


Hardened mineral glass lens with coating against reflection and a metal reflector.

Deze hoofdlamp bevalt mij zeer goed. Ik gebruik hem voornamelijk als ik in het donker met mijn hond ga fietsen in het bos hier. Stand drie ( van de vijf ) geeft dan meer dan voldoende licht om alles goed te kunnen overzien waar je fietst. Als je andere mensen tegen komt is het overigens handig om het licht naar de grond te richten, zelfs op de derde stand is het aardig verblindend. Klein nadeel : wat lastige bediening van de schakelaar met handschoenen aan. 

We hebben er twee aaangeschaft voor onze inzet als vrijwilligers bij Stichting Bootvluchteling op Lesbos waarbij we ook 's nachts het water op moesten om bootjes te helpen.
Eisen waren: Stevig & Waterdicht, Rood licht om je nachtzicht niet te verliezen en meerdere standen voor het witte licht, al naar behoefte. Ik had al de CI6 Chameleon voor een nachtzichtkijker en wist dus dat ik kwaliteit kon verwachten (deze waren ook mee op de boot)
Het brede witte lichtveld en draaibare kop maken dat je alles kan zien in je blikveld, zonder je hoofd steeds te hoeven draaien. Wel uitkijken als je iemand aankijkt, had de lamp daarom meest naar beneden staan en nooit veel hoger dan  standje drie.
Naar voren gericht is het op de hoogste stand zelfs een prima lamp om foto's en filmpjes mee te maken!
Een solide lamp, die wel wat aan de zware kant is (één brok aluminium) maar zelfs zonder muts kon ik hem gewoon een dienst van 7uur ophouden zonder klachten.
Het rode licht vaak gebruikt om even wat te doen / te zoeken en dat kijkt erg lekker.
Een leuke en handige extra aan deze lamp is de indicatie van de accuspanning c.q. capaciteit, bij het inzetten van de accu knippert de aan / uit knop de eenheden en tientallen van de accuspanning, daarna bij aanzetten is deze even groen voor >50% capaciteit en rood voor <50% zodat je weet waar je aan toe bent.
Je moet wel even wennen aan de éénknops bediening maar dat was geen probleem.



Zeer goede Hoofdlamp, gemakkelijk in gebruik!

Ik gebruik de lamp professioneel om gebouwinspecties mee uit te voeren. Voorheen had ik hiervoor een Petzl Tikka+ 2, maar die gaf te weinig licht. Dat probleem is opgelost met de HC50. Deze lamp geeft een ontzettende bak met licht. De inspectie camera die ik gebruik maakt nu bruikbare foto's, zelfs als ik op 10-15m afstand sta (zonder flits). 

Het enige minpuntje is de hoofdband, deze trekt de twee rubber stukjes helemaal links en rechts strak in je voorhoofd. De meeste kracht komt dus door die twee kleine rubber strookjes op je voorhoofd. Dat is minder comfortabel en als ik de lamp afzet loop ik zeker nog 10min met twee van die rode drukpunten op mijn voorhoofd. Vandaar 1 ster minder.

Schitterend afgewerkte hoofdlamp die ondanks z'n gewicht bijzonder comfortabel zit. De lichtopbrengst is meer dan noodzakelijk en goed regelbaar in 5 standen.  Lezen bij laagste stand is niet fijn omdat vanwege de ringen die de reflector veroorzaakt. Dit ongemak wordt echter ruimschoots goedgemaakt door de twee rode leds die meer dan genoeg licht geven om een boek te lezen. De schakelaar met een dubbele functie is wennen. Dat komt ook door dat de schakelaar aan de zijkant zit. Zeer veel kwaliteit voor de prijs. En wat ook wel genoemd mag worden is de prima service van Knives & Tools. De hoofdlamp is binnen 24 uur bezorgd.
