The knife industry loves acronyms and one frequently seen is the term FRN.
It means “fiberglass reinforced nylon” which is a plastic material used in manufacturing knife handles because it’s lightweight, longwearing and not prohibitively expensive.
One of the Byrd line’s cornerstone models, the Cara Cara is available for the first time with FRN handles.
The FRN Cara Cara has slip-free texture, deeply molded into the plastic, so it won’t slide or move around in the hand.
Nested inside the handle are full-length steel liners, adding rigidity and strength without unnecessary weight and phosphor bronze bushings for smooth open/close.
The 8Cr13MoV stainless steel blade is hollow-ground with a comet shaped hole so the folder opens and closes one-handedly.
On top of the blade’s spine is a series of crosshatching the knife industry calls jimping.
Jimping creates tactile resistance, gripping the thumb and keeping it in contact with the top of the blade while cutting.
Features a 4-way pocket clip for left or right-handed, tip-up or tip-down carry.
Cut out of the lock’s release is a safety feature called a David Boye Dent, allowing you to tightly grip the handle without fear of accidentally releasing the lock.

The shipping costs that we charge to you are depending on the weight of your order, the selected service, the destination and the order amount. In general, when you order more products, the shipping costs will be lower.

In the table below you find information regarding the availablilty and time of shipping of your order.
Products that we have in stock are shipped within 0 - 1 bussiness day, guaranteed. In other words, the day you place the order or the next bussiness day. On some other products we offer the same guarantee. Please read the text at the bottom of this page for more information!

Fast delivery, fair prices
Whenever you buy anything on the Internet, you want to get it as cheap as possible and you want to receive it as soon as possible.
To keep prices low, many Internet shops do not keep stock, and you will not know when your order is shipped. We do keep many products in stock, but not all. The number of products in our assortment is much larger than in any regular shop, and therefore we cannot keep all items in stock.
We do however guarantee fast shipping, on many products, and advice you on expected shipping times on other products.

Guaranteed and expected shipping time of your order
With every product on our website, we either list the guaranteed time to ship or the expected time to ship, which depends on our own stock position and the delivery time of our supplier.
We cannot guarantee the time it takes for your order to arrive after we shipped it. We give an indication for all shipping services, but we do not guarantee these transit times.

Our time to ship guarantee
When we give you a guaranteed time to ship, and we do not ship your order by that time, you’ll receive 30% of the order amount as a rebate on future orders.

Terms and conditions

The guarantee only applies to orders that are placed using our website.

The guaranteed time to ship, is the time that is shown at the moment that you confirm your order. In some cases this time may me different than the time shown on our website earlier; for instance when we stock two items and you order three.

If there are any open issues regarding your order, the given time to ship will start at the time all issues are solved.

If you want to make use of our etching service, you should add one business day to the given time.

The rebate that we give when your order does not ship within the guaranteed time can only be used for future orders.

When you return one or more items or cancel your order, the rebate on future orders that is eventually given, will be voided. If it has already been used, we will deduct it from the refund.

If we do not ship in time, you must claim the rebate within 30 days.

Licht mes met een prima prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding. Het mes is zeer scherp en ligt voor een klapmes goed in de hand. De greep voelt wel wat goedkoop aan doordat het kunststof is. Ik heb het mes met plezier gebruik tijdens een weekje wildkamperen. Ik weet nog niet hoe duurzaam het mes is, maar ik heb daar wel vertrouwen in.

De Byrd Cara Cara FRN is een geweldig stukje gereedschap, geschikt voor het zware werk, lange standtijd, lichtgewicht waardoor hij makkelijk te dragen is, en mocht hij onverhoopt stuk gaan staat de prijs niet in de weg om een nieuwe te kopen.

Een licht, scherp en fraai afgewerkt stukje vakmanschap uit China. Extreem goede prijs/kwaliteit verhouding. Uitermate geschikt voor kampeerder etc.
