Give the handle a light sand with some 180 grit. Oil the handle with boiled linseed. Taylor the edge to your needs with the sharpening puck on this site. Solid Sharp Comfortable

A well-made and well-balanced axe. Grind on the blade was a little off centre but was easily fixed.

First axe. Materials are good quality but it requires some effort on your part to get this up to perfect condition. I sanded the handle and re applied a few coats of boiled linseed oil. I would recommend using some gloves, like riggers when using it, I'm not very experienced and first time i used the axe I got blisters easily (my fault). The axe head is solid Swedish steel and even a little blind it splits wood quite well. I'm still trying it learn how to sharpen it properly but it requires a sharpen if you plan to fell small trees.

When I received the axe it had a small chip in the blade. However after a few hours using it on a camping trip and re sharpening made it good as new. It's a very good axe good weight and very nice hickory handle.

I bought this axe for chopping & splitting wood for outside fires and tent wood burner on a 2 week camping holiday, after being sadly disappointed by a "mainstream" hand axe last year which rapidly went blunt. However this axe has performed superbly and lost no edge at all; I can highly recommend it, and was impressed by the professional service and prompt delivery from Knives and Tools.
