I have some decent kitchen knives and needed something that would maintain their edge. I have long pondered the array of devices that one can buy to do this but all seem pretty pricey, this being no exception.I only bought it because it was in the sale otherwise I was unlikely to have done and then I still perceive it to be expensive. It does the job, leaving my knives and scissors with fine edges and needing relatively little skill. The CD that comes with it was probably made in the 70's but.... The stones appear to be of good quality and durable and capable of sharpening any metal, so the guy says...we will see.
