The 'Practical Katana' offers excellent quality at a great price.
The blade is hand-forged in high-carbon steel and differentially tempered, using the traditional claying method, to produce a hardness of 60 HRC at the edge and 40 HRC at the back of the blade, so the temper line or hamon is authentic and prominent.
The tsuba or guard as well as the fuchi or handlesleeve and the kashira or pommel are superbly antiqued, adding to the overall aesthetics of the sword.
The saya or scabbard is finished in a deep black laquer and the sageo or scabbard-wrap is woven in black Japanese cotton.
The tsuka or grip is wrapped in imitation ray skin with a tsuka-ito or handle-wrap of synthetic leather, chosen for it's excellent gripping characteristics.
Underneath the wrapping two small ornaments or menuki are placed.
Cost savings are effected by using largely undecorated fittings which, while making no claims to authenticity, are very strongly built to withstand the rigours of tameshigiri or cutting exercises.

We cannot guarantee the time it takes for your order to arrive after we shipped it. We give an indication for all shipping services, but we do not guarantee these transit times.

Our time to ship guarantee
When we give you a guaranteed time to ship, and we do not ship your order by that time, you’ll receive 30% of the order amount as a rebate on future orders.

Terms and conditions
  • The guarantee only applies to orders that are placed using our website.
  • The guaranteed time to ship, is the time that is shown at the moment that you confirm your order. In some cases this time may me different than the time shown on our website earlier; for instance when we stock two items and you order three.
  • If there are any open issues regarding your order, the given time to ship will start at the time all issues are solved.
  • If you want to make use of our etching service, you should add one business day to the given time.
  • The rebate that we give when your order does not ship within the guaranteed time can only be used for future orders.
  • When you return one or more items or cancel your order, the rebate on future orders that is eventually given, will be voided. If it has already been used, we will deduct it from the refund.
  • If we do not ship in time, you must claim the rebate within 30 days.
