Cutting manicure instruments

Nail scissors
Nail scissors are small, stable scissors with short, predominantly curved blades. They are used to shorten and shape finger and toe nails.
Nail scissors with a so-called tower point serve as combination scissors, i.e. they can be used for nails and for fine corners and cuticles.

Cuticle scissors
Cuticle scissors are small (8,5-9cm) precision instruments used to remover fine corns carefully. The tips are slim and evenly ground so that they reach right into the corners of nails. The skin which has been pushed back with a nail pusher can be snipped away evenly with these fine scissors.

Nail nippers
Nail nippers come in various sizes (10-14,5cm) and designs. Nippers transfer power more effectively than scissors and it is therefore easier and more comfortable to shorten toenails with nippers.

The nipper is pushed against the resistance provided by a spring and clips a piece of nail away. Various types of spring are used: wire springs with rollers, leaf springs, double leaf spring and cushioning springs.

In use, nippers are often fitted to the agronomy of the hands. Men usually like large nippers, while women prefer the smaller nipper.

Nail clipper
Thick nails can be easily and cleanly shortened with a nail clipper. A nail clipper is so compact and light that it can be carried around in a handbag, trouser pocket or on a key ring.
