The **Fenix Hm51R Ruby** is the extended version of the Fenix HM50R. The main difference? The HR51R is enhanced with a white and red light, has a beam distance of 85 meters and is enhanced with an s.o.s function. Its compact size and low weight make it an inconspicuous companion during camping, mountain climbing or hiking trips. Because of its solid construction it can endure the most miserable conditions.

 The aluminium casing is designed as such that it can handle cold circumstances very well. Perfect when you need a good, reliable light in winter or in the mountains. The casing is attached to the head band with a silicon holder. You can take the light from the holder to end up with an individual mini flashlight. Very practical!

 The Fenix Hm51R derives its strength from the (included!) 16340-battery. A small Li-ion cell that can make the light shine about 1 hour and twenty minutes in the highest mode. In the lowest mode it can last over 60 hours. You can charge the battery inside the light itself with the included micro-USB cable. The side switch has been enhanced with a coloured LED light that shows you the current battery status. Of course you can also exchange the 16340 battery with a CRr123A battery. These can handle low temperatures even better. With its beam of up to 500 lumens you will have enough light in almost all circumstances. For shorter distances you can limit the beam to only 3 lumens. As such you save battery but will still be able to see in a dark tent.

 **Please note: in the battery casing you will find a small plastic disc. This disc needs to be removed before you can use the head torch.**

De Fenix HM51R heeft mijn Fenix HL50 vervangen nadat ik deze helaas was kwijtgeraakt. Wat een vooruitgang! Ik gebruik hem vooral voor trailrennen. De felheid, de brede bundel en het formaat zijn perfect. De HL50 was iets aan de te lange kant vanwege de AA batterij. Ook is de rubberen houder fijner dan de metalen. Daarnaast is de ingebouwde oplader stiekem erg fijn: geen gedoe meer met externe opladers op het bureau. Het nieuwe rode lampje is een leuke bonus, maar had van mij niet gehoeven.

Fenix starts to become my favorite manufacturer in the flashlight scene. Their products are superb quality. This headlamp is super comfortable, light, gives the optimal amount of light for hiking, casual walking, or for a 'around the house' worklight. The red emitter is a HUGE plus for me, i can use it many times on my forest walks / tenting. The headband is my favorite now, and i tried many types. The angle of the beam, the neutral color is super pleasing, and it has the right mode spacing to have one for every ocassion. 

Only downside is that the battery life is not so long,  but hey, put extra cells to your pocket and change it when it needed. I bought some cells with usb charging port so while im using one i can charge the other in my backpack from a powerbank. What you get for the shorter run time is the overall feeling of NOT feeling the light on your head at all. Great. 

One detail that i want to point out and is hard to find on the web is that it has a plastic lens, not a glass one.

Sehr verfeinert ausgelegte Stirnlampe, bei der alles in logischer Schaltung erreichbar ist, was ich gemäß langjähriger Praxiserfahrung wirklich benötige, dazu ist sie klein, leicht, stossfest, ohne aussenliegende Kabel und wasserdicht...Einzig ein Punktstrahl für größere Fernsicht fehlt, aber das ist mit starrem Fokus und nur einer LED nicht besser hinzubekommen, und auch nur selten wichtig.

Uitstekend klein, licht lampje met voldoende lichtopbrengst en zeer prettige roodlicht optie. Fijn in auto of andere usb op te laden. Zowel als hoofd/neklamp of los in hand te gebruiken en tevens met magneet ergens op vast te klikken. Zo goed dat ik er 4 heb gekocht om niet mis te grijpen: in de auto en op pad.

Gebruik de hoofdlamp voor het nachtvissen.
Fijn om je handen vrij te hebben bij alle handelingen.
Geeft voldoende licht , ook op moeilijk begaanbare plaatsen. 
Een fijn product.
