The Naniwa package deal is the perfect sharpening set for anyone who wants to sharpen their dull blades or maintain the sharpness of sharp knives. 
The package consists of 3 stones with grit sizes: 220, 800 and 3000.
  
  

**Naniwa Specialty Stones**
The Naniwa Specialty Stone-series is the improved version of the well-known Super Stones-series. Naniwa has renewed the binding agent of the water stones. It is unique that 
Naniwa itself takes care of the production of the binding agent. Optimal matching to the grit size is important. The result of this is that the sharpening properties of Naniwa water 
stones are significantly better than sharpening stones of other brands even though the grit size is comparable. The Specialty Stones are hard sharpening stones so it is not very likely 
that your knife will 'bite' into the stone. Also the wear of the stone is minimal; they have a very long lifespan. However, it is advisable to regularly clean the sharpening stone with a 
'dressing stone'.
  
  

The Specialty Stones are synthetic resin-bound. The absorption of water is minimal so you only have to wet them and you can immediately start the sharpening process. They do not have to 
be submerged. The water stones will wear very slowly during the sharpening process. The advantage of this is that the stone cleans itself, as it were. Despite the 'wear' a Specialty Stone 
will have a very long lifespan.

As a professional chef I was looking for splash and go stones that would keep my knives sharp without spending a fortune. These stones have a very nice tactile feel, cut well & produce a nice finish. Highly recommended. It should be noted that Naniwa under rate their stones and from use I would agree. The 800 grit stone acts like a 1-2000 grit & the 3000 acts like a 4-5000 grit which is fine. Excellent value plus free delivery makes this a must have purchase. The only slight negative is that the stones aren't very thick so you don't have much clearance if you use a stone holder but they are hard wearing so it's not a big issue.

Ik heb uiteindelijk voor deze Naniwa stenen gekozen vanwege het "Japanse" (geen rationele beslissing dus ... ;-) en mijn voorkeur voor "origineel". Dat zegt verder niets over de kwaliteit van andere merken, want daar heb ik geen ervaring mee v.w.b. slijpstenen.

Het werkt perfect(wel even de prima instructievideo's van Knives & Tools bekijken!) en mijn Global messen zijn weer bijna scheermesscherp. Misschien - in de toekomst - nog een steen met een nog fijnere korrel er bij (8000 of 10000) gewoon omdat het kan :-) en om echt scheermesscherp te zijn.

Het slijpen is een heerlijke 'zen' bezigheid met een mooi resultaat waar je weer veel plezier van hebt. Ik kan het iedere hobbykok of messen-geïnteresseerde aanraden. Knives & Tools biedt - volgens mij - een zeer compleet assortiment aan. En was (met hun 20% kortingsaanbieding) ook zeer concurrerend.

La combinaison parfaite pour mon usage Bushcraft, un grain 800 pour un affutage rapide, le 3000 procure un effet rasoir acceptable et largement suffisant pour moi et le 220 m'a permis de bien rattraper mes lames émoussées, j'ai également commandé un support universel pour un meilleur maintien et l'affutage devient un plaisir. 

Wat een heerlijke kunst! Het slijpen van messen met deze stenen. Krijg er een enorm ZEN gevoel van als ik aan het slijpen ben. vooral de 1000-3000 range. Je voelt en hoort het gewoon scherper worden. Voor het eerst in mijn leven dat ik gewerkt heb met een echt scherp mes.
Investering van tijd en geld zeker waard. BTW ... ik heb nog nooit op deze manier messen geslepen. Maar de site heeft prima uitleg.
