The **Victorinox Pioneer Farmer X Alox** is a robust Swiss pocket knife from the Pioneer collection. The pioneer is slightly bigger than most Victorinox pocket knives. The Pioneer, for instance, is larger than the Victorinox Cadet and the knife has an awl instead of a nail file. Because of the larger size and longer and thicker blade the Pioneer is perfect for the more demanding daily tasks. This knife is, however, not just a Victorinox Farmer! This is the Farmer X! The difference with the normal Farmer? Additional scissors!



Remarkable about his pocket knife is the ridged Alox handle. They are slim, sustainable and it looks amazing. In addition, wear and tear is hardly visible. Because of this finish you have enough grip to safely start using your pocket knife. The knives weigh next to nothing and easily fit inside your pocket or tool box. With this knife you will always have a valuable tool at hand.

### Knife


The knife is razor-sharp and has a cutting edge of no less than 6 cm. When opening and closing the blade you hear a familiar click. The knife is very solid and perfect for outdoor and survival purposes.


### Wood saw


Branches as thick as your wrist are no problem for this wood saw. The saw is thin. The spine is about 1.2mm thick and the serrations are 1.6mm thick. Because the spine is smaller than the teeth the saw won't get stuck in the wood and it limits friction. In addition to living wood this saw can handle pallets and shelves.


### Awl


What do you use an awl for? For all tasks you wouldn't use the tip of your knife for! The awl has a one-sided grind. As such it is great to make markings on wood. Which side of the line should you adhere to when you mark something with a pencil? With an awl this isn't a problem. In addition, it is very practical to use an awl to prick into soft metals. To mark where you should drill for instance.


### Combination tool


A practical tool is the combination tool. This tool can be used as a bottle opener, wire stripper and screw driver.

Nice knife, nothing bad about it.
Just a bit disappointing : unboxing sharpness is not up to top class standards. I had to machine polish the blade edge with leather wheel and TiO2 based compound to get it right.

Top, pour moi très complet et le meilleur des Alox sur le terrain. Mon expérience ; 30 ans de scoutisme à la FSC Belgique et un an d'Infanterie de Marine. ZM-FN Belge. Il m'aurait bien été utile sur le terrain celui là. Si bien utilisé, indestructible. Mais ce n'est pas une hache ni un marteau. C'est un super "petit Suisse". 😉👍

The ALOX Farmer X is very well made and very, solid.  It has a sturdier tool set and a thicker, wider blade.  It also has scissors, which are really useful for me, but you don't get the tweezers and tooth pick, I am very pleased with this purchase.  This and my Huntsmen are my two favourite SAKs.
