The Gerber Crossriver is a practical rescue knife. You attach it to a life vest, or on any other part of your outdoor equipment. Especially for fisherman and water sport enthusiasts this is an indispensable tool. This is the fresh water version, when you are surrounded by salt water you run the risk of rust a little faster. Please note: if you don't maintain it this knife will also rust in time.
The tip is blunt to make sure you never injure anyone in case of an emergency. The serrations make it easy to cut through ropes. Just as important as the knife is the sheath it comes in. The knife has a little lever enhanced with a spring in the base of the handle with which it secures itself in the sheath. You need to squeeze this lever to pull it out. As such you can even attach the sheath upside down on your shoulder strap without the knife falling out. The back of the sheath has been enhanced with two plastic clips. With it you can attach it to the straps of your life vest or belt. The clips are also narrow enough to be attached to a MOLLE web.
