This Laguiole en Aubrac 12 Damascus pocket knife is a modern incarnation of the classic Laguiole knife. It has a buffalo horn handle that runs over the entire length, without a bolster. There is a stylised version of the Laguiole bee on the spine. The most striking feature is the blade itself. It is made of Japanese Damascus steel, which gives the knife a unique look. The different layers of Damascus steel contrast beautifully with the dark core of the steel.
You open this Laguiole knife with two hands. When opened, a slip joint holds the blade in place. This is not a true lock, merely some resistance to keep the knife from closing. When closing the knife, it is important that you carefully lower the blade into the handle. If don't do this carefully, the blade will hit the inside of the handle, which could affect the sharpness of the blade.
Laguiole en Aubrac knives are made with love. The handle of this classic French pocket knife naturally features the characteristic bee. This handmade pocket knife has a slender appearance. Because of the manual labour and the natural materials used, each pocket knife is unique.
Please be aware that materials like horn have natural variations. The knife you receive may therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same. This means all the knives are unique, which is of course what makes them so special.
