Fantastic piece of kit. This is my first time using water stones and I'm relatively new to knife sharpening and I have managed to get my knives cutting like fine razors. They look great too which is a bonus!

I have up till now used natural Japanese whetstones (jnat) and i much prefer these slash and go setups. i have a kikuichi santoku 60 hrc and a Miyabi Santoku 66 hrc knives which both get hair whiting sharp using these stones. I also finish with a 0.5 micron leather strop (the black coloured compound also from knivesandtools). the stone stand is great for keeping the stones in place and functions well as a storage when you're done sharpening. it actually fits 6 Shapton glass stones placed sideways. the stones are hard and wont dish nearly as fast as jnat for instance. i have sharpend a dozen or so knives so far on these and the stones are still completely flat. i do use a dressing stone (nagura) after every other session or so, that helps keeping the stones clean and flat. id recommend adding a 300-500 grit stone to this collection and you will have a complete set for all sharpening needs. my order arrived quickly and in excellent shape and i am very satisfied with the quality of the stones and end result.

Great stones as always with Shapton The 8000 stone is an HC (Grey 50803) rather than the HR (White 50203) it is listed as though. So its an HR/HC set. Not necessarily a bad thing though.
