The **Spyderco Manix 2 XL** is the large version of the Manix 2. It is a large knife enhanced with a so-called Ball Bearing Lock. It contains a freely moving ball in a plastic 'cage'. This ball is locked in a plastic 'cage' and blocks the knife. Because of that same function it will continue to block the knife.




The blade is made from S30V steel and the top is enhanced with ridges for additional grip for your thumb. To prevent reflections and rust the blade is protected by a matt, black coating. The G10 scales also provide you with enough grip, even in wet circumstances. The curved back of the blade offers you even more options for holding the knife.




The Spyderco Manix 2 XL is a large and solid pocket knife, produced in the American Spyderco factory in Golden, Colorado, USA, Earth.

I bought the XL version after buying the standard version (which I bought after getting the UKPK), for the fun of having the three Spyderco models. I love all those knives, but the Manix 2 XL is a nice example of a lock knife which is easy to operate one-handed and locks securely. The release slider is easy to manipulate and the knife will close on its own. I gave the action a light lubrication and it's a lovely piece. Blade is super sharp (as are the other two knives) and it feels of high quality (reflected in the price, which I found to be lowest from Knives and Tools). 

Das Messer ist wie man es von Spyderco kennt faszinierend. Es kam sehr sauber verpackt und die Verarbeitung ist absolut hochwertig. Mit etwas Glück sind manche Modelle direkt ab Werk perfekt eingestellt, bei meinem war das definitiv der Fall. Die Klinge läuft butterweich, der Lock sitzt fest und alles wirkt durchdacht und robust.

Es ergänzt meine Manix 2 Sammlung hervorragend und ist durch die XL-Größe ein echter Hingucker. Besonders gefällt mir die schwarze DLC-Beschichtung in schwarz.

Preislich habe ich das Messer hier bei Knives and Tools am günstigsten gefunden. Zwar empfinde ich Spyderco Messer im Allgemeinen durch den Hype als etwas überteuert, aber wer Wert auf Qualität legt, bekommt hier ein top Produkt.

Ich kann sowohl das Messer als auch den Shop Knives and Tools definitiv empfehlen.

La qualité de fabrication Spyderco n'est plus à démontrer, concernant celui ci un gros plus concernant l'ergonomie avec des plaquettes très bien conçues ( les nombreux grips idéalement placés, le retour en bout de manche), le blocage de lame est plus efficace que le pression lock des para et autres, l'acier S30V est un bon compromis entre dureté et facilité d'affutage, le tranchant sorti de boite est excellent.
Le poids est très réduit du fait des plaquettes en G10 et de leurs renforts largement ajourés par apport aux autres pliants de la même taille.
Ils est extrêmement résistant, un pliant tout terrain aussi efficace en EDC que travail ou rando.
Concernant le format de base ou XL j'ai eu du mal à choisir et suis très satisfait d'avoir opté pour ce dernier, il est à mon gout parfait, j'ai une taille de main dans la moyenne.
Bref un très bon achat, un bon pliant à tout faire, beau, ergonomique, polyvalent et solide.
Un grand merci à Knives and tools qui fut très réactif suite à un problème d'acheminement de DHL.
