The **Spyderco Paramilitary 2 CPM SPY27 C81GPCBL2 Blue G10** is a cool version of the popular Paramilitary 2. This Paramilitary 2 is an amazing pocket knife that is made in the Spyderco factory in Golden, Colorado, USA, Earth. As befits Spyderco, the finish is sublime. The knife opens easily and the famous Compression Lock, designed by Spyderco founder Sal Glesser, is very solid and easy to control.

## Spyderco Paramilitary 2 CPM SPY27 blade

This edition of the Paramilitary 2 is enhanced with a blade made from CPM SPY-27 steel. This is a remarkable type of steel that was specifically designed with and for Spyderco. It looks a lot like CPM S30V and CPM S35VN, with comparable sharpness retention and toughness. Because of the addition of cobalt and a little less carbon and vanadium, SPY-27 is easier to sharpen.

## Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Compression-Lock

The blade locks by means of the immensely popular Compression-Lock. It works as sort of a reverse linerlock. The controls are on the spine of the handle. The way it locks is also different. A linerlock, for instance, only falls against the blade. The lockbar of a Compression Lock falls into the cut-out in the blade and gets caught in between the blade and stop pin. As a result, it's one of the strongest locks on the market today.

## Spyderco Paramilitary 2 G10 handle

The handle is made of G10, just like the standard version of the Paramilitary 2. The G10 handle is very grippy. This texture gives a lot of extra grip in wet conditions, or when wearing gloves while working.

## Spyderco Paramilitary 2: an ergonomic success story

The design of the Paramilitary 2 has its origins in its bigger brother: the Spyderco Military, developed by co-founder Sal Glesser and launched in 1996. Sal's vision of an ideal pocket knife for soldiers attracted not only soldiers but also a wide range of other users. The Paramilitary 2 quickly became one of the world's most iconic pocket knives. Spyderco intends for their knives to be used. And yet the Paramilitary 2 is amazing to look at too! The ergonomics are amazing. Designer Sal Glesser really knows what works and what doesn't, you can tell when you look at this successful model.

Vorweg,K&T sind Spitze! Nach Endura VG-10, Tenacious 8Cr13MoV, UKPK S110V nun das Para Military2 Spy27. Das Design ist typisch, die Praxistauglichkeit ist über jeden Zweifel erhaben und die Qualität und Verarbeitung, ist, wie gewohnt, tadellos. Die Haptik und Handlage vom Para2 (Hand Gr. 10/11) ist prima und wäre mit abgerundeten Kanten sogar grandios. Die Klinge steht mittig, ohne Klingenspiel und ist nach einem Abzug  über den Strop auch richtig scharf. Selbst nach einem schwungvollen Spyderflick funktioniert der Compression Lock einwandfrei und ist bei meinem Exemplar nicht hakelig. Nach der ersten Spielerei und dem Kontakt mit Papier, Pappe, Folie, Paracord und Holz, zeigt sich die Klinge sehr schnittfreudig und die Schärfe ist nach einen kurzen Strop unverändert. Mal abwarten, wie es sich auf Dauer, mit der Spitze verhält. Bis jetzt bin ich begeistert und kann alle Empfehlungen bestätigen und den Hype etwas verstehen. Ob eine "neue" Stahlsorte nötig war und wie sich Spy27 im Vergleich zu seinen Rotationskollegen (Benchmade Presidio 2 mit S30V und dem OA Titan Sepp mit M390) verhält, kann ich noch nicht sagen. Fairerweise lasse ich das UKPK mit S110V raus, da S110V schon speziell ist.

Echt om te janken. Er lijkt sinds 2022 geen fatsoenlijke PM2 meer uit de Spyderco fabriek te komen. Ze zitten vol met fabrieksfouten, optisch en technisch. Eerst eentje die optisch van geen kant klopte, schroeven zaten er scheef in, speling op t lemmet, de lanyard tube zat er scheef in. Retour gezonden, nieuwe gekregen die optisch in orde was, maar met echt extreme lockstick, gewoon niet te doen, m’n hele vinger is beurs van t drukken. Klaar mee, hoewel Spyderco een top merk is, en de oude S30V PM2’s echt top zijn, zijn de nieuwe gewoon helemaal ruk. Voor de prijs die ze er voor vragen mag je gewoon een smetteloos product verwachten, en dat gaat blijkbaar niet de afgelopen jaren. Wel frappant trouwens, want een Matrix in S30V is nagenoeg altijd foutloos, dus het kan blijkbaar wel.
