Full description
Everything about the Japanese Higo pocket knife radiates tradition. In Japan, every single person, kids included, would carry one of these knives in their pockets on a daily basis. The samurai on the handle it another indication of the origin of this design. The Higo pocket knife was used for pencil sharpening and all kinds of other chores. The knife is relatively cheap and accessible for everyone. Originally, the name of this type of knife was Higonokami . But with abandoning it's original maker, Miyamoto Seisakusho it is not supposed to be called this anymore and is named Higo instead.
The blade is easy to open with the 'chikiri' (the small lever on the end of the blade). As is traditional, this type of knife does not have a locking system en disappears entirely into the handle when closed. The blade is slightly curved and has a rough finish at the top. This strengthens the traditional feel of the knife. The steel is hand-forged and very hard. You can sharpen the carbon steel razor sharp yourself.
