With the SRT3, Nitecore has made a flashlight which is very suitable for professional use, but also for other activities, like hunting. It uses a XM-L2 T6 LED with a maximum light output of 550 ANSI lumens. In addition, the SRT3 also has a blue and red light mode. This can be used in a continuous mode, but there is also a strobe mode where red and blue light alternate each other.
Red light is used by hunters, in tactical situations and for general outdoor applications. Blue light can be used to detect stains. Also fishermen and hunters make use of blue light for various applications.
All possible output modes can be chosen by means of a swivel ring (SSR: Smart Selector Ring) behind the lamp head. Clear click sounds indicate that the next mode is activated. The light output of the LED is continuously adjustable with the swivel ring. At the back of the flashlight you find the tactical on and off switch.
Around the reflector there is a steel ring, for extra protection of the lamp head.
The SRT3 is powered by an AA battery (Alkaline or rechargeable) or a CR123A battery. To make use of the CR123a battery, which is included in delivery, you need to remove an extension piece in the body of the torch. The length of the torch is then reduced to only 10 cm.
The maximum light output of 550 lumens is, according to Nitecore, reached with the use of rechargeable CR123a batteries. When using a CR123A lithium battery (as supplied) the maximum light output is 330 lumens.
* The indication of the light intensity is according to the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standards. This means that the values may be lower than former values . Naturally, this lower value has no consequence for the light intensity of the torch. The advantage of the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standards is that the values can be compared with each other and give a real picture of the actual light intenstiy.
