The **Steel Will Plague Doctor** is a robust pocket knife. The Plague Doctor got its name from the masks the plague doctors wore in between the 14th and 19th century, when the plague was still common. These plague doctors wore beak-like masks filled with herbs to clear the air. This beak-like shape can also be found in the blade of the Steel Will Plague Doctor.

 The Plague Doctor was originally designed for tactical purposes. Steel Will however, selected a D2 steel blade to make sure the Plague Doctor could also be used for daily use as an EDC knife. D2 is a tough type of steel which retains its sharpness for a long time. Very long even! You quickly open the Plague Doctor with the flipper. When opened a solid liner lock will lock the blade. The handle is enhanced with a G10 handle which has a light texture for additional grip over the knife. Your index finger and thumb automatically move towards the royal finger grooves at the pivot. These finger grooves ensure that you have enough control over the knife as you use it and that the handle won't just slip from your hands.

 The Steel Will Plague Doctor can easily be worn on your pocket with the pocket clip. Steel Will also included an additional pocket clip for left-handed users.

Look: Heb gekozen voor de volledig zwarte "murdered out" variant. Fijne coating die bij gebruik een mooi slijtage patroon vormt op de randen. Aparte vorm, doet ook echt denken aan het bekende pest-docter masker. Mooie hoekige lijnen. 't is geen Kershaw Tilt, maar qua geometrie zie ik gelijkenissen. Nice.

Bouw: Alles aan dit mes voelt "overbuilt". Dit mes is echt een tank. Niet "Medford" levels overbuilt, maar zeker meer dan je verwacht voor de prijs, en van het merk. Linerlock die pak 'm beet de helft van de mesdikte is. Perfect gebogen zodat die niet te veel en ook niet te weinig weerstand geeft aan de oversized flipper-tab. Paracord-gat waar met gemak 2 a 3 550-dikte paracords door heen kunnen.

Deployment: Het mes vliegt er echt uit. Geweldig om mee te spelen. Drop-shutty dus kijk uit voor je vingers (geen probleem trouwens, want bij normale ontgrendeling zal de flippertab eerst op je duimnagel terecht komen) Perfect getunede linerlock druk. Interne stop-pin voelt solide aan. Geen enkele speling in het mes. Geen lockrock, etc. 

Gripfeel: Qua "stance" zit dit mes aardig in de "fighter"-categorie. De snijlijn zit iets onder de pivot-lijn, wat er voor zorgt dat je vingers wat meer beschermt zitten achter de enorme uitsparing waar je wijsvinger (of pink in reverse-grip) in valt en die tegelijk je duim naar de ronding bovenop het mes stuurt. Dat maakt voor een fantastische grip en handfeel. Tevens zorgt de G10 structuur voor een unieke ervaring. Niet te glad, niet te grippy. Voelt een beetje aan als ruw gescotchbrite micarta. Netjes afgerond aan alle randen. Pocketclip zit niet in de weg, en als southpaw waardeer ik de linkshandige pocketclip. Zijn niet veel merken die denken aan de 1/7.

Grootte: Ik heb ietwat kolenschep-handen, dus ik prefereer een groter mes, en deze is echt gemaakt voor mijn handen. Zelfs met handschoenen aan is het een geweldige keuze. Het mes valt ondanks z'n groote makkelijk in de broekzak, waar het (door meegeleverde extra pocketclip) netjes aan de rand van de broekzak blijft. 

Conclusie: 9/10! Fantastische prijs, mooie kwaliteit, een mes waar je op kan bouwen.
