I have given this five stars only because I cannot give it six, It was received honed to a very sharp edge which saved me time sharpening, the steel is thin and not stainless just the job for my wooden craftwork and anything else. these knives are sooooo cheap for the quality of steel received the hardwood handle looks a bit common to the untrained eye, however, in design, I find that the simple things come out first with the super lock. p.s. this is my first review with a tool or pocket knife I use all the time. p.p.s it was a design made for French farmers so they say.

One of the best knives you can buy! Great value super easy sharpening. I have used these knifes for over twenty years, hunting and commercial fishing. Brilliant!

This is my second Opinel knife, I had the first one for several years before loosing it on a fishing trip. I looked at what was available but couldn't find anything of quality near the price of an Opinel. The blade is easily kept sharp and as long as the knife is stored dry you won't have any issues. Excellent product.

An excellent knife- my intention was to use this as a pocket knife & yes, fine at that but there is something about lockback knives- in the UK anyway- which makes me think twice about just having it in my pocket if I am off to the pub so it's not quite as useful as I'd like. Good sound knife for all that & I do use it.

have used an Opinel no.8 since 1982 for a variety of tasks including prep of small game, a no.8 is my every day carry I love the edge they hold and I only ordered this as I thought I had lost it, happily I found my own no.8 and am delighted to have this as a new back up I also have another no.8 in an exotic wood with stainless blade a big fan of the brand
