The Bark River Bravo Survivor CPM 3V is a large and decent fixed knife. You mostly use it for chopping work or survival tasks. Within the Bravo collection this is one of the larger models. You can, however, because of its convex grind and large finger groove just before the handle, also use it for finer tasks.
The blade is made from CPM 3CV-steel. A tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. As such it won't break and will retain its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by stropping it.
The handle is made from Desert Ironwood. A type of hardwood mainly found in the United States and Mexico. Characterizing is the beautiful colour and the rich pattern. This great type of wood makes the knife look extra luxurious.
The Bark River Bravo Survivor comes with a solid leather sheath. It offers many carrying options. Vertical on your belt, horizontally, for both left and right-handed users.
Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when you are working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
