The Bark River Fox River is a relatively light-weight hunting knife. The original Fox River has been one of the most popular Bark River hunting knives for years. Its round belly and slightly curved blade make it the perfect knife for gutting game. The handle feels great in hand. You have a lot of control over the blade and even during long-term use you will have enough grip. The Bark River Fox River is therefore not only great for hunting purposes. It can also handle its own as a bushcraft knife.
The blade is made from A2 tool steel. A strong type of steel that would rather bend than break. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: A2 is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by stropping it.
The handle is made from Desert Ironwood. A type of hardwood mainly found in the United States and Mexico. Characterizing is the beautiful colour and the rich pattern. This great type of wood makes the knife look extra luxurious.
The Bark River Fox River comes with a leather belt sheath. You can carry it both straight (belt width up to 5.5 cm) and diagonally (belt width up to 6.0 cm). The sheath also has a loop for a firesteel (max. diameter ~6.0 mm).
Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
