So lets start with the negative. Out the box, the ergonomics of this knife were not great. The thumb stud is slippy, the force required to use it was high, but the knife had a very small self closing angle. This led me to feel like i was going to cut my thumb off using that. The button is smooth, and level with the scales. Basically making it impossible to index. This means what i had upon opening the box was basically a knife that needed 2 hands to open safely, and didnt lock closed positively enough to give me confidence it would not open in my pocket. Now, this was all readily fixed by grinding a larger chamfer on the closed position index of the blade. About 20 seconds with a dremel to turn what looked like a deburred corner into a proper lead in angle for the closed position. Now i have done that the button protrudes above the flat of the scales, but still requires enough force to make me feel safe, and index it easily without looking. The self closing radius is larger now. The tip can be about 10-15mm away from the handle and it will still spring itself closed with decent force. The blade also opens easier and safer feeling with the thumb stud. This simple adjustment turned the knife from a regret into an instant favorite. Other positives: the blade geometry is lovely. Its a decently thin, full flat grind. Light weight, sharp and d2 so should be very hard and surviveable. The colour options are fantastic and the price us very agreeable for a d2. Overall im very happy with this knife its just a shame the closing slope was so tiny out of the box. I will be reaching out to bestechman to let them know.
