This reviews comes from www.knivesandtools.co.uk and has been translated for you by Google TranslateAn all time classic! I love this knife but it won’t be for everyone. It suffers from being a very heavy knive with materials of a bygone age. More modern knives have evolved to be lighter, adjustable and generally will wear a better steel. Even with the improvements to the more modern knives I still love this knife. For one thing the steel which is fairly dated benefits from a superb heat treat which means you are able to make it insanely sharp with very little work. I find many of the new, all singing all dancing steels which are heralded to be able to take a super fine edge a complete nightmare to sharpen and yes you can get them to this edge but I find I can’t get them to take an edge with an element of toothyness which makes for a great usable edge. This is completely the opposite. This steel may not hold an edge as long as say s30v but it takes seconds to get it sharp. This blade also benefits from a superb hollow grind which when paired with its superb edge makes an incredible sliver. The weight is very much in your hand offering superb blade control. It’s very much geared towards carry in a belt pouch due to its weight and if done so it’s superb. It’s not a pocket knife really. The other reason it’s benefits from this method of carry is due to the fact that it cannot be stripped to de fluff and dirt the innards.
The handle materials look high quality and the heft makes you have confidence it could handle anything you would realistically expect a folder to do. I had the smaller version but the ranger, but I found the weight to proportions did not work, it felt too small in length when you held it.
Now mine came very sharp but the finish is not perfect. There is a slight gap along the where the liner meets the back lock and it was full of black stuff which I believe to be from the buffer when they finish the knife. I’ve since oiled it and worked it in and now it does open and close easily. The lock up is perfection. No movement in any direction. So essentially if you can get over there being better size to weight ratio knives out there and you don’t mind the slightly old fashioned construction and materials then you are likely to love this knife. The one thing I guarantee you will not be disappointed with is it’s cutting performance and it’s ease of sharpening to unbelievably sharp. Value wise I think you get a lot of product for the money along with a piece of real knife history. Buck should really consider doing an up to date version with a handle construction similar to that of maybe the spyderco police g10 but keep everything else the same, the blade steel, profile , lock just make a lighter version. I know they did the buck lite but that just looked and felt like a budget version. Mix it up a bit buck ! Thanks to knives and tools for the usual service.

This reviews comes from www.knivesandtools.co.uk and has been translated for you by Google TranslateThe knife is exactly how I expected it to be - it’s beautifully made and has an excellent finish - it opens and closes very smoothly and is a pleasure to own and use

The blade sharpens well although, if you are cutting a lot of cardboard, it does need a quick fettle with a Lansky to bring the edge back but that is no problem - it will not have a rough time with me because it is too nice to use in that manner

Very pleased I bought it

This reviews comes from www.knivesandtools.co.uk and has been translated for you by Google TranslateThis, in case you were in any doubt, is THE iconic folding knife. It is a marriage of simple, very good design and good materials. It is quite large, sharp, heavy, brutal and, in a rather refined way, completely unforgiving.
There are other knives that gently snick into place, that sit prettily in your hand, that use titanium and special alloys, rare woods and weird blades that you have to sharpen using only the dessicated thorax of endangered butterflies, knives that are manufactured using ridiculously advanced machines and very impressive acronyms, used by only the very very best Special Forces and Explorers, and only on Wednesdays, at night.
Not this.
This is a Grizzly Bear of knife. Buy it and cut off your own ponytail while you growl like a mountain lion. Stab raw meat. Cut trees down. Shout at gorrilas. Whittle a boat out of a hardwood trunk. Defeat alien invasion. Annoy zombies. Massacre fruit.
F*** yeah!
