Civivi are well known with one of the best budget to quality ratio products, which are enough reliable for real use. In my experience, I have not seen any fluctuations in their quality control, as well. Their collaboration with leading knife designers gives phenomenal results. A good example for this is the work with Ray Laconico and the model "Sokoke" (or "Cat", as it translates). In particular, the model I have is with Damascus stainless steel blade and linen micarta scales. The first impressions on this knife are on the very clean lines and the nice choice of materials. The patterns of the Damascus and the satin finished micarta combines brilliant, giving the knife some high end aesthetics. Of course, this provides a lot of gentlemen flavor to the model, but in its essence it remains more of a stylish worker, up to me. Also, the knife is completely ready for use straight out of the box, with no adjustments. In terms of functionality, there are few things which stand out in use. The handle geometry is more neutral, with excellent ergonomics at any grip. The pocket clip (left/right, tip up carry only) does not feel at all. The weight to size ration is nice and the knife feels solid in the hand and capable for dealing with good amount of work. The steel liners are precisely inserted into the micarta scales and are half skeletonized (without the locking one). The blade shape have continuous curve cutting edge with flat thin and even grind geometry - a definite slicer. The balance point (in opened) is at the position of middle finger and of the knife is very maneuverable. Moreover, the Damascus steel behaves like mid-range stainless (e.g. well heat treated 440C) and shows up with aggressive bite and adequate at standard cutting tasks. The blade runs on ball bearings, which in combination with the very good detent, makes the action a rocket. One note here is that when opening the knife in some cases, the extension of the spine for the front flipper might touch slightly the base of the index finger. It does not miss-function the operation or the locking, but should be mentioned anyway. Also, in my opinion, the knife will benefit a lot, if the jumping at the tang of the blade (i.e., for the front flipper and the index finger) are made finer. As an overall performance, the knife could be positioned as an excellent working slicer with great ergonomics and attractive aesthetics. I do recommend it, especially at the quality to price ratio. Great service and delivery, thank you "knives and tools".
