Information about grit size DMT sharpening stones
The grit size of a diamond stone and a water stone cannot simply be compared. This is because the construction and materials used are substantially different. With a water stone, the abrasive grits are incorporated in the stone. These grains also come loose from the stone during use and become some kind of sharpening paste. With a diamond stone, the diamonds are fixed in the surface of the stone.
Important to know
With the DMT sharpening stones you can choose to sharpen dry or wet. The advantage of wet sharpening is that the stone is lubricated and the sharpening residue is removed. With wet sharpening only use water never oil. Furthermore, it is good to know that a diamond sharpening stone needs to be sharpened as well. A new sharpening stone removes too much material at first. Only after 5 to 10 knives does the stone have its final effect.
