The Kershaw Ferrite is a slim pocket knife for everyday use, designed by Rick Hinderer. It has a remarkable harpoon-style blade. There is a small recess on the spine of the blade where your thumb fits exactly when you need to apply force.
Both the 8Cr13MoV steel blade and the stainless steel handle have a titanium carbon-nitride coating. You can open the blade quickly with both the flipper and the thumb stud, thanks to the SpeedSafe assisted opening. There is a spring in the handle that makes the blade open even quicker.
When opened, the blade is kept in place by a solid frame lock. It also has an overtravel stop. This prevents the lock from going too far, so it will stay in great condition for years to come. You can carry the Ferrite comfortably in your pocket with the pocket clip. A recess has been made for this on both the left and right side. There is a filler tab that can be placed in the recess that isn't being used by the pocket clip. You can replace this with one of the filler tabs available from Rick Hinderer.
The Kershaw Ferrite is a typical Hinderer design: tough, solid and very functional.
