This Laguiole en Aubrac 12 cm pocket knife is enhanced with a corkscrew. As such you will not only benefit from the functionalities of this stunning Laguiole pocket knife, you are also able to open a bottle of wine. The spine of the handle is enhanced with stunning file-work. The blade is made from stainless Sandvik 12C27MOD-steel. The remarkable thing about this knife is that the handle is made from oak wood. Not just any oak wood: oak wood that was taken from a wooden barrel that contained red wine. As such you can see the subtle red traces in the wood, and with some knives you can clearly smell the red wine. Like the blade the stainless steel bolsters have a matt finish.
You open this Laguiole knife with two hands. When opened a slip joint holds the blade in place. Not a real lock, merely resistance to keep the knife from closing. When closing it is important to carefully lower the blade into the handle. If don't do this carefully the blade will hit the inside of the handle, which could affect the sharpness of the blade.
The Laguiole en Aubrac knives are made with love. The handle of this classic French pocket knife is, of course, enhanced with the characteristic bee. The handmade pocket knife looks slim. Because of the manual labour and the natural materials used each pocket knife will be unique.
Be aware of the fact that materials such as wood have a natural variation. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same. As such all knives are unique. This is also what makes them so special.
