With the Ochsenkopf Profi-splitting axe Big Ox splitting wood is child's play. Its 3 kilo head has a devastating impact as soon as it hits the block. Even though a splitting axe doesn't really have to be sharp this axe is razor-sharp. The edge is even polished!
Ochsenkopf OX 635 H-3009 axe head
The axe head is forged from C60 steel. This steel is characterized by its toughness and long life. The head of the OX 635 H-3009 has a large surface at the back to hit a wedge.
Ochsenkopf OX 635 H-3009 axe handle
The handle is made from a type of top-quality wood: Hickory wood. This North-American type of wood is tough and won't break easily. Perfect for absorbing blows without breaking. This sleeve protects the handle from damage if you miss. This also ensures a long life. This axe comes with a leather sheath to protect the cutting edge.
The connection between the handle and the head is very safe. The patented handle attachment, Rotband-Plus, comprised of a steel sleeve, a threaded fixing plate with additional screw have turned the head and handle into a safe whole.
Maintenance Ochsenkopf axe
The right maintenance extends the life of your axe. For that reason you should always correctly store your tools. A storage place that is too dry will dry out the handle. However, a storage place that is too humid will make the handle swell which could, in time, damage the fibres of the wood. If you are planning to store your axe for a longer period of time it is wise to protect the cutting surface from rust. All you have to do is apply a little bit of oil or fat on the cutting surface. Afterwards protect the edge with, for instance, a sheath and you are good to go.
