The **Rick Hinderer XM-18 3.5”** is a solid pocket knife, made to be used. A working knife from the highest ranks. The finish is simply perfect; grip where needed and rounded off where possible. As a result it feels great in hand. When the XM-18 is opened the flipper will keep your fingers away from the edge. As such you don’t have to worry about slipping during heavy-duty cutting jobs.


The spanto blade is made from CPM 20CV steel. A premium type of powdered steel you won’t often come across in Hinderer production knives. CPM 20CV retains its sharpness well, and is very rust proof. The spanto shape is a combination between a spearpoint and a tanto. When you look at the profile the blade looks like a spearpoint, but when you look at the grind you see the typical tanto-curve. As a result the tip is as strong as a tanto, and using it is amazing because of the spearpoint blade. Very versatile, perfect for real users. On the spine you will find an additional ‘protrusion’, also called the Harpoon shape. In between the flipper and the edge you will find a finger choil. This choil enables you to have more control over the blade when cutting. The beautiful finish on the blade is stunning. After all, the stonewashed finish contains some irregularities and glossy highlights. These make sure you won’t see any traces of use. Not only that, it looks amazing as well!


You can easily open the XM18 with the (double) thumb stud, or the flipper. With a small movement of the wrist you can easily open the knife. The Teflon washers around the pivot make sure it runs smoothly.


When opened the solid framelock keeps the blade in place. Another characterizing detail for a Hinderer knife is the *lockbar stabilizer*/. This is a round plate on the side of the titanium handle that ensures that you cannot overstretch the lock. With the titanium pocket clip you can always carry the XM-18 with you. This tip-down pocket clip is mounted to the right side, but with a Philips head screwdriver you can easily switch it to turn it into a tip-up.


The Rick Hinderer philosophy is as follows: a knife is a tool that should work for you, never the other way around. For that reason Hinderer knives are made to be used. This XM-18 is the perfect example.
