The Sakai Takayuki bunka knife 16 cm from the 33-layer VG10 Damascus Hammered WA collection is enhanced with a kengata blade. This stands for 'sword-like' and refers to the suddenly sharply sloping end of the blade. Other than that the knife can be regarded as a member of the santoku family. With the narrow tip you can finely cut meat, fish and vegetables.
This Japanese knife has a blade with a core made from hard VG-10 surrounded by 33 layers of damascus steel. The top of the blade is hammered. This gives the knife its unique look and feel and it is also practical. It ensures that ingredients don't stick to the blade.
The oriental character of the knife is emphasized by the choice of an octagonal handle made from Japanese selfcova wood. The crop, which takes care of the balance, is made from mahogany. It is highly resistant to cracks and therefore a sustainable material.
|Finish blade||damask, partly hammered|
