Full description
The Sakai Takayuki bunka knife 16 cm from the 33-layer VG10 Damascus Hammered WA collection is enhanced with a kengata blade. This stands for 'sword-like' and refers to the suddenly sharply sloping end of the blade. Other than that the knife can be regarded as a member of the santoku family. With the narrow tip you can finely cut meat, fish and vegetables.

Absolutely brilliant. Looks wonderful, well balanced and not too big and clumsy. After just a few swipes on a ceramic honing rod and a leather strop with a tiny amount of honing paste, I could shave the hairs on my arm with it. It seems to hold an edge well and I use it for chopping and slicing both meat and vegetables and it requires very little effort to use. I always wash and dry it and store it in the knife block immediately after each use. I would never let the handle soak in water.
