The Wicked Edge set of diamond sharpening stones, extra fine 1500 and Blank Glass Platens are two sharpening stones for the Wicked Edge sharpening systems. The sharpening stones are comprised of a plastic base with a diamond-coated sharpening stone and a glass platen on top. On the green side, the sharpening stone is 1500 grit, and the white side is a glass platen where you can stick different lapping films to polish your knife.
The grit sizes of the American Wicked Edge differ from the Japanese grit sizes. These sharpening stones have a grit size of 1500. This is similar to a Japanese J2600 grit. The glass platen is meant as a base for the lapping films. Wicked Edge recommends using the Wicked Edge 3 micron lapping film.
These stones are very fine and therefore only meant to keep knives sharp or to polish sharp knives. Are your knives blunt? If so, it's better to sharpen them with coarser sharpening stones. For instance, the: Wicked Edge Diamond Stones pack 800/1000 or the Wicked Edge Diamond Stones pack 400/600.
These sharpening stones are suitable for all Wicked Edge sharpening systems.

The 1500 stones are a great step on from the 1000 grit diamond stones and with the ability to add lapping film to the glass side, it is a step closer to a mirrored edge. Not that a mirrored edge necessarily means sharper, but it sure does look nice!
