The **Bark River Aurora** was developed as the ultimate bushcraft knife. Prototypes of the Aurora were extensively tested by bushcraft-experts in North America and Europe. Based on their feedback the Aurora was perfected. The result is an amazing outdoor knife. The Bark River Aurora is perfectly balanced. The pointed tip is great for detailed tasks and the spine of the blade is perfect for a firesteel.


The blade is made from CPM Cru Wear steel. A tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. Sharpen it once and you are good to go for a long time. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM Cru Wear is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by [stropping it](/en/ct/stropping.htm). Bark River considers Cru Wear to be a type of steel that looks a lot like CPM 3V.



The handle is made from canvas micarta. A strong and light-weight material, made from linen and synthetic resin. Feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold circumstances.



The Bark River Aurora comes with a leather belt sheath. You can carry it both straight (belt width up to 5.5 cm) and diagonally (belt width up to 6.0 cm). The sheath also has a loop for a firesteel (max. diameter ~7.0 mm).



Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.

I had watched many reviews online before choosing this knife and steel, so thought I knew what I was getting. This knife is beyond my expectation. It was awesome sharp when delivered, it has easily sailed through every task I have undertaken. The quality of the knife is amazing the sheath is great quality, I did welt it then protect it with a waxing, but overall a great add to anyone's tools.

De Aurora is een mooi bushcraft mes. 
Voor dit mes is CPM Cru Wear gebruikt. Zeer hard en houdt de scherpte erg lang. Met dit mes kun je batonnen en ook goed houtbewerken.
De convex slijpwijze is fijn voor houtbewerking en bovendien makkelijk te onderhouden door te stroppen.
De micarta handgreep is goed gevormd en ook nog eens heel mooi.
De lederen sheath is mooi en goed te onderhouden met wat olie en kan op twee manieren gedragen worden, recht en schuin. Top mes!
