The Bark River Bravo Machete is a large machete, made in the United States. This machete is the perfect tool for many different purposes. From removing dense vegetation in your garden to finding a way through the jungle. You always use a machete for light chopping tasks. If you want to cut through branches or trunks you use an axe or a saw. This light machete is not built for these types of tasks.
The blade is made from CPM 1V steel. This is a tough type of steel that can handle its own. It is also easier to sharpen and will retain its sharpness better dan many other comparable types of steel. Do, however, be careful with moisure and acids: CPM 1V is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by stropping it.
The handle is made from canvas micarta. A strong and light-weight material, made from linen and synthetic resin. Feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold circumstances.
The Bark River Bravo Machete comes with a nice leather belt sheath. You can wear it vertically on belts up to 7.5 cm wide. You can also use the eyes in the edges to attach the sheath to, for instance, a backpack, while using paracord.
Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
