Full description
The Benchmade Aileron 737 is a cool pocket knife, designed by Steve Tarani. He was asked to design a knife for pilots. A knife that can be opened with one hand, but also easily with two. More importantly, the question was if the knife could also be opened while wearing gloves. After all, with many knives you simply don't have enough grip over the blade while wearing gloves. A thumb hole is often added which can be used with bare hands. Benchmade and Tarani came up with a great solution: a laser texture.
This texture has been added to the blade with a laser. The result is a piece with a lot of grip, just before the thumb hole. As if it is enhanced with sandpaper. As such you can always easily open the knife regardless of the circumstances.
The handle on the Benchmade Aileron is made from G10. Again to make sure you have enough grip while wearing gloves. Tarani made sure that the end of the handle is a little slimmer because your pink and ring finger are shorter. Towards the front of the handle it becomes wider and wider to make room for your index and middle finger.
CPM S30V was chosen for the blade. It retains its sharpness well and is nice and stainless. When opened the Benchmade Axis lock will neatly keep the blade in place.
