Ik moet deze review splitsen in een deel over het mes in het algemeen en het specifieke exemplaar dat ik heb ontvangen.

Algemeen: Een oerdegelijk betrouwbaar werkpaard dat in zijn ontwerp zeer functioneel is voor een grote hoeveelheid klusjes waarbij ik moet zeggen dat ie vooral in de keuken goed tot zijn recht komt. Hij snijdt vanwege het smalle flat ground lemmet flinterdunne plakjes tomaat maar is tegelijkertijd degelijk genoeg om zware hout snij taken te vervullen. Het mes is ontzettend licht en daardoor prima te dragen. Een echte winner in het Cold Steel assortiment.

Mijn exemplaar: Tsja, ik ben in de eerste plaats verzamelaar en heb veel Cold Steel (vouw)messen in mijn collectie. In vergelijking met de staat waarin de andere messen me bereikten was dit toch wel een echt een dieptepunt. Het begon al met de snede. Daar zaten recht uit de verpakking al zichtbare chips in. Nu maakte ik me daar niet perse druk over want die haal ik er wel uit. Daar bleef het echter niet bij. Ik ben linkshandig en moet dus bij elk Cold Steel mes de thumbstud overzetten. Het gaatje waar de thumbstud doorheen gaat bleek tot mijn verbazing niet mooi rond zoals gebruikelijk maar het leek wel of de frees uitgeschoten was. De rand van het gaatje/oogje was zwartgeblakerd en uitgeslepen tot bijna een ovaal. Dit was in eerste instantie niet zichtbaar geweest doordat het verborgen zat onder de thumbstud maar het was voor mij wel de bevestiging dat dit echt een maandagochtend product is. Ik moet zeggen dat ik dit niet van Cold Steel gewend ben en ik ga ervan uit dat het een eenmalig iets is.
