The CRKT Clever Girl Folder is a large and robust pocket knife, designed by Austin McGlaun. This American designer and war veteran is known for his rough and tough designs. Austin always says that his knives are black, undecorated and ugly, and are purely made to be used. Everything is matt black and the shapes are rather bulky.
The Clever Girl Folder is the pocket knife version of his popular Clever Girl Fixed Blade. The shape of the blade and the handle are fairly similar. The main difference is that you can close the Clever Girl Folder after use.
As a veteran Austin McGlaun knows what a knife should adhere to. That is why initially he wasn't a fan of a pocket knife. After all, a knife that can't close is a lot safer. He stuck to this point of view until he got a hold of Flavio Ikoma's Deadbolt lock. He was immediately sold because the Deadbolt is so strong it is not inferior to a fixed knife.
The most important part of the Deadbolt lock is the hardened steel wedge that falls into the cut-outs in the blade This construction is so strong it can handle quite a lot. The controls are also very simple: you simply press the large pivot and close the blade as such.
The handle is made from G10. The blade is made from D2 steel. Tool steel that is very strong and easy to sharpen.
