Full description
The ESEE Avispa is a large and slim pocket knife, designed as the big brother of the ESEE Zancudo. A large EDC pocket knife for an amazing price.
For a practical and utilitarian pocket knife such as this you want materials that will simply just work. That is why the blade is made from D2 steel. A tool steel that was first used in World War Two as a type of steel for cutting tools. It is tough, easy to sharpen and can handle its own. Perfect for someone who uses his knives on a daily basis. The only thing you need to take into account is rust: D2 is almost completely stainless but could, after long-term exposure to moist, acids or salt still stain. Fortunately you get a lot of toughness and strength in return. So only a small sacrifice.
The handle should also simply be good. A show side made from FRN and a lock side made from stainless steel. Light-weight whenever possible, solid where it should. A framelock firmly keeps the blade in place when opened. You quickly open it with the double thumb studs.
The thin blade is perfect for many daily tasks. Opening boxes will be a piece of cake and you can also use this knife to quickly peel an apple. A great all-rounder for an amazing price.
