The Schrade Leroy Bowie SCHF45 is a solid bowie knife, which is also great for the more demanding tasks. A type of bowie-machete, almost a hybrid. You benefit from the blade length of a machete, but the blade thickness is tailored to a survival knife. This makes the blade quite heavy which is great during use.
The blade is made from stainless steel 8Cr13MoV. This means that, apart from sharpening it occasionally, you hardly need to think about maintenance. 8Cr13MoV is relatively tough and easy to sharpen. The fact that Schrade can offer a comparable knife at such an attractive price is simply impressive. A complete survival knife, for a very good price. The handle is made from Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE). Strong, offers enough grip and is rubbery. Very nice for a knife handle.
The Schrade SCHF45 Leroy comes in a plastic sheath with a belt loop for belts up to 5.0 cm wide.
About Schrade Knives
Schrade makes great knives at good prices. That's what they are good at. There are few brands that can compete with these kinds of prices. This does, however, mean that the finish isn't always perfect. Not something to worry about, and in line with the prices.
