Spyderco introduced the Byrd collection as a more affordable alternative for the famous, but often more expensive Spyderco knives. Byrd knives are made in China. Naturally, they adhere to Spyderco's quality requirements, and they are made with good designs and materials. The blades are made from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, which is comparable to the Japanese AUS8 stainless steel in terms of quality.
This Spyderco Byrd Robin 2 with titanium handle is a striking model in the Byrd series. The titanium handles are a premium feature, but Spyderco still manages to keep this knife at an attractive price.
The modified clip point blade is easy to open one-handed with the comet-shaped hole in the blade. When opened, a reliable back lock holds the blade in place.
As an extra safety measure, this back lock has a "Boye dent" - this is a crescent-shaped recess that prevents the knife from closing during more demanding tasks.
The knife has a decent pocket clip that can be attached in four different ways - you can choose between tip up or tip down carry, and left-handed or right-handed use.
|Right or left-handed||left-handed, right-handed|
|Blade shape||drop point|
