The WE Knife 037,910 is a cool EDC knife, designed by Kellen Bogardus. At the 2019 Blade Show this knife won the award for Most Innovative Imported Design. A remarkable achievement, especially when considering the fact that the designer Bogardus was only 21 years old when he designed it. It demonstrates how innovative and remarkable this pocket knife really is.
It is no surprise that the blade runs on ceramic ball bearings and that there is a lockbar insert. We have grown accustomed to it from WE Knife. Things get more interesting when we look at the construction of the handle. There are no frame screws visible from the side. These are located on the spine of the handle. Both scales have excellent tabs that slide together when the knife is assembled. Afterwards a screw is screwed through the tabs from the spine to fixate it.
This leaves you with a remarkable construction and a sleek look and feel. Quite the challenge for WE Knife as a manufacturer, because it asks for strict tolerances. Fortunately WE Knife knows what it is doing.
This construction is not the only remarkable thing about the 037. Bogardus namely decided to integrate the pocket clip in the handle. It saves you approximately 2 mm when compared to conventional pocket clips. The clip works well on the edge of your pocket, but when you use the knife you hardly notice that the clip is there. Very clever.
You open the WE Knife 910 037 with the flipper. The blade will open quickly and is locked by a solid framelock. The blade is made from Böhler M390. An extremely wear-resistant type of steel that is stainless and retains its sharpness well.
The WE Knife 037 910 is the perfect example of what WE Knife is capable of, and of the innovative design ideas of Kellen Bogardus. We expect to hear more from both in the future.
