This **Wüsthof Classic 5-piece knife set** is unique thanks to the remarkable knives. The set is comprised of three knives, a honing steel, and scissors. The two large knives might not look alike, but both have a different function.

The cleaver, the knife with the hole in the middle, is a heavy knife. It is enhanced with a thick blade and has a large sharpening angle to break bone in half without affecting the sharpness of the knife. With it you can easily cut through a rack of lamb or chicken leg.

The Chinese chef's knife might be shaped like a cleaver, but is meant to cut and chop herbs and vegetables. The blade is thinner than that of a cleaver and also the sharpening angle is a lot smaller and therefore sharper. In the Chinese kitchen this type of chef's knives are used often because the height of the blade enables you to use your fingers to guide the knife as you use it.  This is safe, fast and practical. This Chinese chef's knife can also be used to crush garlic. 

The carving knife is a practical knife you use to cut boneless meat into pieces. Because of the low blade this is easier than when you use both large knives. The pair of scissors will always come in handy, and with the honing steel you make sure your knives stay nice and sharp!

## Wüsthof Classic blade: razor-sharp stainless steel

The blade made from chromium-vanadium steel (X50CrMoV15) is forged from one solid piece of steel. It is sharpened according to Wüsthof’s PEtec technology. This means that for each blade a sharpening angle is determined with the help of a computer. Afterwards it is precisely sharpened on a wet sharpening stone. After thorough inspection each knife leaves the production line, ready for a life of intensive use.

Wüsthof processes the steel in a specific way to make sure it has a high hardness of 58 Rockwell. As such the knife retains its sharpness for a really long time. However, if you notice that the knife is not as sharp as it used to be, all you have to do is move it over a honing steel. The result is a razor-sharp knife that is amazing to use.

## Wüsthof Classic handle: sustainable and hygienic

This knife is a combination of a forged blade and an ergonomic handle made from black POM, a very sustainable type of plastic. The handle can withstand all substances you find in the kitchen. The handle was traditionally and seamlessly riveted to the blade with three rivets. As such dirt can never accumulate in between the blade and the handle. The crop protects your fingers from unnecessary contact with the edge. What more could you possibly ask for?

## Wüsthof Classic: the classic Wüsthof collection

The Classic is the most extensive Wüsthof collection on the market today. It is comprised of over 80 different kitchen knives, amongst which different sizes of chef’s knives, bread knives and carving knives. Because this collection has the most versions of all possible knives, you can easily comprise your own perfect knife set. A knife set with a knife block of chef’s case is, of course, also an option.
