The **Edge Pro sharpening stone 1000 grit** is used in combination with an Edge Pro sharpening system. This 1000 grit sharpening stone is fine in comparison to other 1000 grit sharpening stones. As a result, this sharpening stone is mainly suitable for sharpening knives that are relatively sharp. For very blunt knives, we recommend using a coarser sharpening stone. 

## Grit size of Edge Pro sharpening stones 
The sharpening stones in the Edge Pro Sharpening system seem coarse when compared to Japanese sharpening stones. This is because various scales are used for the grit size of sharpening stones. An Edge Pro F400 grit is comparable to a J700 Japanese sharpening stone. And a 1000 grit from Edge Pro can be compared to a 2700 grit Japanese stone. When you consider that you can polish with tapes with an Edge Pro 6000 grit, you'll understand that the sharpness you can achieve is unparalleled. There is still some guesswork in knowing what the exact similarities are, though. In any case, the Edge Pro stones are finer than you might initially think.
