New handles with topographic texture

The G10 handles are a major improvement. This material is lightweight, incredibly strong, and highly wear-resistant. The subtle texture, inspired by topographic lines, provides just the right amount of grip without feeling rough or damaging your pocket. The frame is slightly longer and slimmer than the previous generation, improving ergonomics. Everything feels more balanced and refined.

MagnaCut steel blade

The blade is made from MagnaCut steel, one of the most innovative steels of today. This steel combines edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance in a way that seemed almost impossible until recently. The blade features a black DLC coating and a reverse tanto shape, ideal for a wide range of cutting tasks. With the enlarged thumb rest, you can easily open the knife with one hand. The edge is about 7 cm long and, at only 2.5 mm thick, cuts smoothly through cardboard, rope, or food packaging.

Pliers with replaceable wire cutters

You open the pliers by unfolding the handles. The jaws have fine teeth for extra grip, with a narrow tip for precise tasks such as bending hooks or removing splinters. The rounded spine makes it easier to work in tight spaces or bend wire around objects. The wire cutters are replaceable and resharpenable. You can easily replace worn cutting edges, ensuring your tool lasts for years.

Larger, spring-loaded scissors

The Wave Alpha’s scissors are the largest Leatherman has ever placed in a multitool. Spring-loaded, sturdy, and smooth to operate with one hand. A clear difference from earlier Wave versions: these scissors truly feel like a full-fledged tool.

File, saw and other tools

The file has two sides: a diamond coating for quick touch-ups and a metal file for working on steel or wood. The wood saw has a slim profile and aggressive 6.5 cm teeth, allowing you to saw through wrist-thick branches with ease, without the saw getting stuck. The bit driver is compatible with all Leatherman bits. It comes standard with a bit featuring both Phillips and flathead screwdrivers. You’ll also find a small (eyeglass) screwdriver, a flat screwdriver, a can opener, and a bottle opener on the Wave Alpha. All tools lock securely when opened.

Familiar, yet more refined

The Wave Alpha feels instantly familiar to anyone who’s used a Wave before, but every detail has been improved.
