Swarovski SLC binoculars

The SLC is built for the last hour of light. Large objective lenses let in plenty of light, and that is exactly what you need in twilight or from a high seat. That comes with weight, so these are not binoculars you wear around your neck all day.

Features of the Swarovski SLC

The SLC is the line for the last hour of light. The objective lenses are larger than on the CL or the EL, so more light reaches your eye when twilight sets in. That is exactly the hour when most animals start to move.

Weight comes with it

More glass means more weight. You do not wear an SLC around your neck all day: it comes into its own from a high seat, a fixed post or a tripod. If you walk a lot, you are better off with the Swarovski CL series.

Housing and coating

The housing is made of magnesium, so the weight does not increase more than necessary. The eyepiece is a wide-angle eyepiece, so the image feels wider than the magnification suggests. The Swarobright coating keeps colour reproduction consistent across the whole spectrum, so brown remains distinguishable from brown.

Maintenance

Store the binoculars in a dry place and blow sand off the lenses before using a cloth. If you wear glasses, leave the eyecups retracted.
