This 33 cm square, cast iron Dutch Oven from Camp Chef is, with a capacity of 7.6 litres, the perfect cast iron pan for families. Because of the ridges on the inside of the lid you can also use the lid as a grill. As such you can use the pan and lid separately from each other. The small cut-out that has enough room for a thermometer is ideal. This enables you to check the temperature inside the pan without removing the lid. Thanks to the excellent qualities of cast-iron the heat is gradually and very evenly distributed and retained. Whether you use the pan over an open flame or if you place briquettes on top of the lid to use the pan as an oven. Because of the flat base the pan will work on all types of cooking hobs, including induction.
Cast iron is a porous material that absorbs fat and oil when used. As you use the Dutch Oven a so-called patina layer will form in time. This layer is a natural non-stick coating that also protects the pan from other influences.
