Hogue X5 4" Spearpoint 34559 Buttonlock Flipper pocket knife, Black Finish
The Hogue X5 4” is a rugged pocket knife, designed by Allen Elishewitz. It is a button lock flipper, which is a fairly unusual combination. You open the X5 with the flipper and a button lock holds the blade in place.
As you would expect from Hogue, a veritable handle manufacturer, the X5 feels fantastic in hand. The side of the handle is inlaid with a beautiful piece of G10 for extra grip. There are also finger grooves to ensure your grip is rock-solid. The blade is made of CPM154 steel and has a black Cerakote coating. It's razor-sharp, and has an appealing shape.
Because the Hogue X5 has a button lock and opens with a flipper, the detent (which keeps the blade in place when closed) is an important feature. On a frame lock knife, the lockbar provides the detent. But with a button lock, there is no detent. Hogue has sought out a different solution to this problem, so the X5 flips differently than other knives. Which is a special experience.
With its X5, Hogue has brought a pocket knife into the top segment of the market. In form, function, materials and finish, it's nothing short of fantastic!
