The Zero Tolerance 0609 is a cool pocket knife, designed by RJ Martin. Connoisseurs will recognise the Factory Custom variant or 606 in this model. This 609 is based on that design, but this knife has been on a diet! It is a lot slimmer than its limited-edition predecessor. While the 606 had carbon fibre inlays, the grip pattern on the 609 is milled into the titanium.
Zero Tolerance 0609 Hardware
The eye-catching focal point of this knife is of course the pivot. It is absolutely amazing. You rarely come across such a beautiful piece of hardware on a production knife. The pivot is hollow, and doesn't have any recognisable cut-out(s) or connection for a screwdriver. As if the blade turns from the handle by magic.
You make the blade appear with the flipper. The blade flies out from the handle thanks to the KVT ball bearing system that Zero Tolerance is famous for. When opened, the blade is locked in place by a solid frame lock. As we've come to expect from Zero Tolerance, there is a steel insert with an over travel stop to make sure the lock stays in great condition for many years to come. Simply put, it's a hard piece of steel in the lock that eliminates the wear and tear of titanium on steel.
And they've outdone themselves with the steel, too. The Zero Tolerance 0609 has a CPM 20CV steel blade - an incredibly fine type of stainless steel that retains its sharpness well. Perhaps the most popular premium steel at the moment.
In conclusion, the Zero Tolerance 0609 is a truly amazing pocket knife. It fulfils two roles, because it is refined enough to be a gentleman's knife, but at the same time it's sturdy enough for hardcore use.
