The **ESEE Gibson Axe** is a compact camping axe, designed by James Gibson. This master blacksmith from Knobcreek Forge made many prototypes for the design of this axe. The result is a compact axe which will easily fit inside your backpack. Practical as a bushcraft axe, or even to chop kindling for next to the fireplace.

 The ESEE Gibson Axe is made from a thick piece of 1095 carbon steel. The axe head has a cutting edge of 6.7 cm. Because of the large 'beard' of this cutting edge, you will, by placing your hand around the handle, have more control over the axe. Perfect for carving purposes and other more precise axe work.

 You can easily sharpen the 1095 carbon steel, even with limited means. You do, however, have to be careful with rust: 1095 is not corrosion resistant. As such we recommend you clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil.

 The handle is made from micarta. This is a composite material of linen and synthetic resin. Incredibly strong and offers enough grip, perfect for an axe handle. Designer James Gibson modifies the handles of his knives with a random filing pattern. He did the same with the handle of the ESEE Gibson Axe. This modification offers you a little more grip.

 The ESEE Gibson Axe comes with a leather sheath that protects the razor-sharp edge.
